The ceremony began at 1:30 p.m. with the reading of the electoral minutes, followed by the symbolic handover of responsibilities from the outgoing president, Jorge Cá, to the newly elected president, Samuel O. Famuyiwa. The event was conducted by AEAV’s electoral commission and officially marked the beginning of the new term.
Several UFV professors who maintain close ties with the university’s African student community were in attendance, including the Director of International Relations, Professor Vladimir Di Ioiro, as well as Professors Maria Simone Euclides, Idalena Oliveira Chaves, and Maria de Lourdes Ferreira. Also present was UFV staff member and Vice President of the Union of Black Women and Men for Equality (UNEGRO) in Viçosa, Teresinha de Jesus Ferreira, among other distinguished guests.
